i've never found a pound cake recipe that i really, really love - they either don't taste buttery enough, are not moist enough, etc, etc, etc. these photos, however, appear to depict my ultimate poundcake. i'd like to take 2 fat slices and use them to make a sugared bacon sandwich. and then i would have a heart attack and die, but i would be oh so happy.

Wow, that looks so moist and perfect. Ever topped it with a rich chocolate sauce or fresh strawberries and vanilla ice cream? My mouth is watering at the thought!

Paula Deen would be proud! I know I am. Pound cake is one of my favorite things. My grandmother still makes one every week just like my great grandmother did. It's a shame that she is in Philadelphia otherwise I'd OD on it. Good stuff!

Mmmm...Looks nice and light. Couldn't you always throw in some cocoa powder and make chocolate pound cake? Don't think I've ever had chocolate pound cake but it sounds good. Especially topped with strawberries and whipped cream, there is no better!

I have a hard time with pound cakes as well. I made some by Dorie Greenspan but they didn't have that nice "oomph" that keeps me returning to the cake platter. I will say that the best pound cake I have ever had was from.. gasp... Sara Lee! I know, guilty girl here!
